We thank the ASEAN regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation for providing support for the CD-ROM and the online version of the Sourcebook.

The Sourcebook of Existing and Proposed Protected Areas in Vietnam provides a comprehensive overview of Vietnam's protected areas network. The Sourcebook is aimed at a broad target audience, including protected area planners and practitioners; provincial governmental agencies; research organisations; NGOs and funding agencies.

The Sourcebook provides a guide to the information available on 189 existing and proposed protected areas throughout Vietnam. These include existing and proposed 'Special Use Forests' (national parks, nature reserves and cultural and historical sites) and proposed marine protected areas.

The Sourcebook has been compiled by BirdLife International and the Forest Inventory and Planning Institute, with financial support from the European Union and BirdLife International as a component of the project "Expanding the Protected Areas Network in Vietnam for the 21st Century". The ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation also provided financial support for production of the hard copy and electronic version of the Sourcebook. The Forest Protection Department and the National Environment Agency also contributed to the compilation process.

Please help us keep this document up-to-date!

We are keen to ensure that the Sourcebook remains up-to-date and is gradually improved as new and better information on Vietnam's protected areas system emerges. Please help us by providing your comments on this Sourcebook and by making available new and additional information on Vietnam's protected areas. New information will be incorporated in subsequent editions of the Sourcebook. Please send your comments and new information to phuong@birdlife.netnam.vn
